Things to know while doing Site Preparation for Construction of Project

Before a building is constructed, it is estimated that would have at least five years of life, there are very crucial steps that need to be followed during the site preparation period.

Site preparation is a pre-construction period where the contractor evaluates the entire site, including the surfaces, subsurface, and till the underground level.

This helps and enables the contractor to make a substantial and equitable plan for the construction or even to accept the contract on the land or not.

Construction Site Preparation Checklist

There are certain basic things that every construction manager should know during the evaluation or site preparation.

 1. Soil Property

A Geo-technical report is prepared during the site preparation, which indicates the soil properties of the land on which you have to start your construction. After the report, you have results of the slope stability, groundwater level, soil bearing capacity, excavation related hazards, strength of the soil. Also, you have results on whether the area is any disaster-prone.

 2. Grade of the Project Site

Grading is the most crucial factor that one looks before the site preparation. International Building Code (IBC 2009) provides basic rules and recommendations for grading purposes. Such as, the slope should be one unit vertical to twenty units horizontal. Also, it is crucial to force water away from the structure.

 3. Clearance of the Soil before Excavation

Before the excavation period, where the soil is removed to require the depth and to set the foundation stage, it is necessary that the land is cleared. The construction manager should note that there are no rocks, trees, or other obstacles and if so that should be removed before the construction begins. There are many tools for the excavation process based on the grading of the soil and its type, soil stability, and site accessibility.

 4. Site Survey for Perfect Space

There is the perfect space for the construction of the building if you appoint a surveyor; he indeed finds an ideal place on the land that is most suitable for the construction. The rest of the land is kept for the gardens or the parking lot. This also ensures that what the design of the building can be and how much amount can be held accountable for the owner.

 5. Neighbors

It should also be noted that who are your neighbors or in a formal way that is situated near your site area. If you have a piece of complete knowledge, there are chances that you will not be able to face any problem as the construction phase is not for only 1-2 months. But it goes for a long period like 2-3 years or more depending on your level of the project. So if you to work accordingly that your neighbors are not affected.

The basic things are mentioned that you need to know during the site preparation period. After the site is prepared and testified for the construction, construction manager then prepares a plan, and the contagious ideas and the construction management of the project begin.
